Location and Site Plan

On Saturday morning at 6:00 am Josh left to drive down to our property and meet with the man who will get our foundation work done.  They determined the actual position for the house and marked it all out.

Sitting on the patio.  You can’t hear the wind in this photo.

We learned that we will need to install and test the hydronic radiant floor tubes and are now using our good friend You Tube to get the details on that.

I also know now that I need to accept a reasonably ugly scar on the land.  It will take a few years to get it landscaped and encourage some plants to grow.  The brush and cacti here take decades to develop.  Birds live here.

This site plan gives a better idea where the accoutrements of a house in the woods will be located.  It’s not terribly precise, but does show where things could be and what we will need.  We can probably place the solar anywhere because the trees are a ways off, but it should be as close to the battery box as possible.  I want the generator to not be under my bedroom window.

PlotPlan

It will be several years before the things in this picture are realized.  The wildlife is already quite real.

To continue calling this place “our property” sounds so pretentious.  It needs a better name.  I may call it the Gardner 40 for now.  Names are hard.

Thanks to everyone who is reading and offering their help to pull this together.  My heart is full.  We can’t wait to camp and work with you.

  1. Oh come on…we are all secretly wishing for a big ass generator right under our bedroom window! Lol! Love your writing style Jenny 🙂

This is all going to work out time wise for us too with the kids at Rainbow Trail camp nearby. We can camp and help out from around June 20 Tues- June 25 Sunday in between dropping off and picking up our kids at camp. Woohoo!
