Pouring the Walls

On Friday May 26 the foundation walls for our Smiling Woods Yurt were poured.  These walls extend 48 inches below the surface per code in climates like ours.  The pour itself took just an afternoon, but there were many days that went into building and setting up the forms.

At one point things were not fitting together properly.  There were a few dimensions form our entryway missing from the engineered plans.  Matthew at Dream.Design.Build provided some updated drawings and consulted with the foundation expert on the fly.  It all came together beautifully.

Josh was there to help with the pour and to do some of the initial plumbing work.  As homeowners we are allowed to place drain and water supply lines in the foundation wall, whereas the foundation contractor cannot do this.
