Delivery Day

House delivery day was scheduled for Thursday, June 1.  On Wednesday May 31 at 12:30 pm I received a call from our delivery driver that he was just pulling off the highway and would be there soon.  Apparently the trucking company failed to tell me that the delivery schedule had been moved up a day.  We were four hours from the site.  So the driver had to chill for a day at a truck stop off the highway.  We drove by the truck a few hours later on our way to take delivery.

Actual delivery was scheduled directly with the driver for 8 am this morning (Thursday June 1.)  If you’ve read my earlier posts you know I was anxious about just how close to the build site the truck would be able to come.  If the truck couldn’t get across the cattle guard and onto the easement we would have to unload on the county road and shuttle the pieces by smaller trailer and fork lift.

Our driver looked at the turn, looked at the cattle guard, then locked out his axles and gave it a shot.  And it was done.  This was terribly exciting for me.

Motoring Up the Easement

Before we knew it the house was within a few feet from where we will assemble it.  With all this driving around, a lot of cacti saw their death today.  A few of them bit back.

To unload, our awesome foundation guy strapped forks to his backhoe and skid loader.  This saved us over a thousand dollars to rent a dedicated piece of equipment with an operator.

After we finished unloading the girls and I made a run to Valley Ace Hardware to get some more tarps, duct tape, twine, wood glue and finish nails.  Wood glue and finish nails are to fix our first destructive boo boo of the project.  More on that later when I know how the repairs are going.  I’m just so thrilled to have the house off the truck that I’m not going to go into it right now.
