The yurt kit will be delivered to the build site in pieces on the back of a truck.

Will we be able to get a semi of this size up to our build site?  If not, we might need to have it delivered to an intermediate location, then have a smaller delivery truck take it in pieces up to the build site.  We might need a more maneuverable hotshot rig to deliver the kit.  Here are a few photos of the access points that should help us make these decisions.

Getting the kit all the way to the build site in one load from the semi will really simplify things.

If the route pictured above is too rough for the semi, we may need to take down a section of this fence and make a temporary access point for the delivery vehicle and concrete trucks.  I do hope not to have to do this, as it will create a bit of a scar on the property.  I would like to keep it as pristine as possible.

For the record, Josh says I am worrying too much about this.  Of course the semi will make it.  By the time the semi gets here, quite a few concrete mixer trucks will have passed this way (or via existing road) and the track will be well-established.

  1. My dad and brother have a wheat farm in eastern CO and during harvest season use huge semis that go down and over the most ridiculous unpaved tracks, roads, ditches and places weighing a ridiculous amount of weight loaded down with wheat to get in and out of fields. The semi will get in. Don’t worry. And if they tell you they can’t, we will let my brother or dad drive it in. It will get in!
