The year 2020 brought us plenty of time to work on the house. The exterior is faring well in the extreme heat, cold and windy environment with a little love. Over the summer we sprayed a good coat of waterproofing stain on the cedar siding and built some shutters from fence planks to help protect the windows from the angry gusting wind.

We installed the staircase and railing and it is quite dramatic. Now the loft area is usable space. The before and after sliders are a neat way to remember how far we have come.

The staircase and railing came in a single 1000 pound delivery and took us about 5 days to install.

The summer and fall brought beautiful flowers and hunting birds as usual.

We also built a custom shower pan and installed a pebble mosaic on the shower floor. The shower walls are almost ready to be tiled. We are grateful to the skilled people who take the time to post instructional videos on the internet; it’s amazing what you can learn to do by watching Youtube.

The next big project to go in will be the kitchen cabinets and granite countertops. There are some parts of a house where a professional design and installation are the only way to go. For this we’ve turned to Wood Revolutions out of La Veta. It’s going to look amazing.
